Trust30 prompts: Invent the Future by Cindy Gallop

A man should learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across his mind from within, more than the lustre of the firmament of bards and sages. Yet he dismisses without notice his thought, because it is his. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

My favorite quote of all time is Alan Kay: ‘In order to predict the future, you have to invent it.’ I am all about inventing the future. Decide what you want the future to be and make it happen. Because you can. Write about your future now.

And it’s an oddness, but this is the one that actually scares me.

So, the future.

Well, I’m going to write some books – some specific and particular books that I have in mind and in most cases, am working on.

I’m going to make at least one film, and write at least one webcomic.

I’m going to find a good woman, and love her to the best of my ability. Maybe even involving children and a wedding somewhere along the line.

I’m going to keep on being a good uncle, because that’s a task that really is its own reward.

I’m going to create a variety of different web-based games and such, because I find the very idea of them intriguing.

And at some point, I’m going to shut down the Melbourne Method, at least in its current form, because I will no longer be working for anyone but myself.
